Description

East Midlands Railway have introduced a temporary reduced Intercity timetable to help provide a more consistent and reliable service whilst they address issues with the performance and reliability of their trains.

This is expected to be in place until further notice.

Alternative routes:

East Midlands Railway have arranged for your ticket to be used at no extra cost on CrossCountry, Northern, TransPennine Express, LNER, West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway services.

If your booked train has been cancelled, you can travel on these operator’s services with your existing ticket at no extra cost, including using alternative routes where available.

If you are travelling between Sheffield and London:

You can travel Doncaster using Northern / TransPennine Express services between Sheffield and Doncaster, and then LNER services between Doncaster and London Kings Cross.

If you are travelling between Nottingham and London:

You can travel via Grantham using East Midlands Railway services between Nottingham and Grantham, and then LNER services between Grantham and London Kings Cross.

If you are travelling between Chesterfield and London:

You can travel via Tamworth using CrossCountry services between Chesterfield and Tamworth, and then London Northwestern Railway services between Tamworth and London Euston.

If you are travelling between Derby and London:

You can travel via Tamworth using CrossCountry services between Derby and Tamworth, and then London Northwestern Railway services between Tamworth and London Euston.

If you are travelling between Long Eaton and London:

You can travel via Tamworth using CrossCountry services between Long Eaton and Tamworth, and then London Northwestern Railway services between Tamworth and London Euston.

If you are travelling between Melton Mowbray and London:

You can travel via Leicester using CrossCountry services between Melton Mowbray and Leicester, and then East Midlands Railway services between Leicester and London St Pancras International.

If you are travelling between Oakham and London:

You can travel via Leicester using CrossCountry services between Oakham and Leicester, and then East Midlands Railway services between Leicester and London St Pancras International.

Ticket easements:

If your booked service is affected, you can travel on up to two earlier or two later East Midlands Railway services, or, if you decide not to travel, you can claim a full refund from where you purchased the ticket.

In addition, if you are travelling between Sheffield and London St Pancras International with any flexible ticket (such as an anytime, off-peak or super off-peak ticket) you can travel via Doncaster with your existing ticket, at no extra cost, using Northern / TransPennine Express services between Sheffield and Doncaster, and then LNER services between Doncaster and London Kings Cross. This applies even if your booked train is unaffected.

If you have an advance ticket booked for an East Midlands Railway train which is still running, your ticket will not be valid on other operators.

The introduction of the new Class 810 fleet to the East Midlands Railway network was designed to provide a smooth transition from the Class 222 fleet, with a significant period where both fleets would operate alongside one another under the maintenance of Hitachi Rail.

However, a three-year delay in the first Class 810 trains coming into service, combined with ongoing service reliability issues across both fleets, have significantly impacted East Midlands Railway’s ability to run a reliable Intercity service.

Introducing a temporary timetable will allow them to provide a more dependable service whilst they continue to work with Hitachi Rail to make the improvements needed as quickly as possible.
