No trains between Torquay and Paignton today: disruption is expected until at least the end of the day on Monday 27 July

Description

There was a fire at Paignton station on Tuesday 21 July. The fire has caused extensive damage to the signalling equipment and the infrastructure around the station. This means that all lines running to and from, and the station itself remain closed.

Whilst repair work is ongoing to allow the station to reopen, trains are unable to run between Torquay and Paignton. Great Western Railway are currently running a very limited train shuttle service between Newton Abbot and Torquay.

Disruption is expected until at least the end of the day on Monday 27 July.

CrossCountry's Paignton services will be revised to terminate / start at Exeter St Davids.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on Great Western Railway's trains between Exeter St Davids and Torquay, and also their rail replacement buses on rail replacement between Torquay and Paignton.

Great Western Railway customer advice:

Great Western Railway's long-distance Paignton services will be revised to terminate / start at Exeter St Davids. All local Paignton services will be revised to terminate / start at Torquay.

Rail replacement coaches will shuttle between Newton Abbot and Paignton, calling Torre and Torquay.

These coaches will depart hourly, from Newton Abbot at XX:15 and and Paignton at XX:45.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following Stagecoach Buses:

• Newton Abbot - Paignton

  • 11 between Dawlish Warren (station), Dawlish (The Green), Teignmouth, Torquay (Riviera Centre)

  • 12 between Newton Abbot (station), Torre (station), Torquay (Grand Hotel), Paignton (bus station)

  • 22 between Torquay (Strand), Paignton (bus station)

If you are travelling between Friday 24 July and Monday 27 July:

It is not yet known what service will look like for either of the affected train operating companies on these dates. As soon as the train operating companies confirm their train plan, you will be updated here with details of any services that will operate and ticket acceptance that is in place.
